
Troop 13 Operating Guidelines
1. Structure

We will establish and maintain a clear leadership structure using the Patrol Method from Senior Patrol Leader to new scout

2. Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Involvement
-
The Scoutmaster is responsible for training.
-
Only trained Scoutmasters may be directly involved in scout leadership training, troop meetings, and camping programs.

The Scoutmaster selects and trains all Assistant Scoutmasters, and has the authority to remove an adult leader from direct involvement with the boys.

3. Non-Scoutmaster Involvement

Adults must not do anything that the Scouts can do themselves.

Involvement is from the sidelines, not through interaction with Scouts.

Adults should not interfere with the functioning of boy leaders, even if they make mistakes.

We will leverage parent professional backgrounds, skills and strengths.

4. Commitment

A High level of commitment from Scouts is expected.

Scouts are accountable for the success of their Scouting careers.

Scouts are expected to attend troop meetings and campouts.

5. Advancement
-
Advancement is the by-product of character development through full participation in the Scouting programs.

Advancement to the rank of Eagle is a difficult and challenging endeavor, reflective of extraordinary effort and character development.

6. Programs

Our programs will be exciting and engaging to scouts of all ages.

Our programs are of the highest quality and innovativeness.

There will be extensive boy-led planning for all programs.

We will foster a spirit of competition and excellence, resulting in awards and recognition.

Our programs will push the Scouts to the Wilderness, experiencing the outdoors in its natural environment.
